Christmas Time Is Here...

Hey guys! I know, it's been like a year since I made a post. I haven't even looked at this thing in a while. So, some updates. My family gets in town tomorrow, YAY! I can't wait to see them. It's going to be really nice having them here. Now that I am familiar with the place, I can really take them around and ya know... show 'em a good time:) My last day of school is going to be February 3rd, 2010. I am very excited about that. I am going to visit the Big Island on New Year's Eve and stay for a few days with my 2 roommates and their families. They live in Kona, and I hear it's really nice there so I'm looking forward to that. There is snow there so I think I'm going to attempt snowboarding, and perhaps on the same day go surfing, pretty crazy how that's possible. I am planning on going to the island of Kauai in February as well. These will be 2 new places for me to see and it's going to be great! I seriously cannot believe it's almost Christmas. Time is going by so fast and honestly it's making me a little sad, because I am really going to miss it here. I've made some great friends and have gotten so comfortable here (especially with the amazing climate) so it will be hard to go. I will, of course, be extremely happy to be back in Nashville and start working. Miss my peeps! Well everyone, have a very Merry Christmas and a HAP, HAP, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! See ya in 2010!

Hey, Hey, Hey

What's up errrbody? Just saying "hi" I guess. Don't really have any big updates. I'm definitely coming home for 2 weeks in November. I can't wait to see everyone! I miss Nashville officially now. I'm so over school, but I'm almost done so I should make the most of it. I'm having lots of fun of course, but I'm ready to start some sort of career. I need cash money!!! LOL. Continue to keep me in your prayers. I want God to use me in a great way while I'm here, and I know he will! Love you all; and for all you Nashvillians, I'll be seeing you in a little bit!

P.S. There's a pic of me and some other "beauty school" friends at Rock Shop

PEACE, I'M OUTTA HERE!

Hello!

Hey fellow followers! I haven't blogged since I was 21! Ahahaha, oh I'm so crazy. But yes, it's true. I am now 22 years old and I must say it feels a little strange. I never thought I'd be in my twenties reminiscing about college and stuff like that. I don't feel 22, but I guess I am. It's crazy how time flies. But I am extremely grateful for another year of life! I'm so blessed to have family and friends that love and support me. They have made these last 21 years so fulfilling!
P.S. Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I love you all!

Some updates for you guys...mi amiga Molley came to visit, and we had a BLAST! We did so many activities (surfing, horseback riding, hiking, camping, moped riding, shopping......tanning, lol) and literally went all over the island. It was a great time and she absolutely loved it. It was so good to see a familiar face; it brought me a little piece of home, which I really needed:) We took lots of pictures, so check some of those out down below.

I'm continuing to take advantage of opportunities to build my portfolio and gain experience with hair and makeup, which is my whole reason for being out here anyway, so that's good. I know there's more and greater ones to come.

I moved in to my new place and I absolutely love it! It's spacey, I have my own bedroom, and best of all, free laundry. My roommate is great as well, so thank God for that. I'm hoping that I get to come home in November for a little bit, and then on to Hilton Head for a little family reunion/thanksgiving celebration. I could use a little vacation, even though I am in paradise. I miss my fam soooo much! Shout out to all the other September birthdays in the fam: Auntie Debbie, Joy, G-Barbie, Uncle Bebe, and Uncle David. Happy Birthday!

Well that's all I can think of right now. Till my next amazing blog, ta-ta!

Updates!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been a good blogger. Ever since I freed myself of facebook (almost a year ago) I'm no longer used to getting on the computer all the time and uploading pictures and what not. I have lots and lots of pictures to show by the way, but I don't want to clutter my page. But whatever. Anyway, let's see a lot has been going on. I finally got to volunteer with Habitat. That was really, really fun. I got reacquainted with the power saw. Haha, I love using that thing! I needed Sarah there to assist me;) But it was a great experience, of course, and I'll try to do it more frequently during my time here.

I've also been getting involved with all the hair and makeup opportunities out here. I actually just got back from styling hair for a ballet production of Peter Pan. We styled the hair in really fun ways for the girls who were playing the lost boys and ragamuffins and stuff like that. I've been meeting a lot of great people in the industry that I know will help me get ahead and gain more experience. It's helping me get a better idea of what I enjoy doing the most. There are so many options with cosmetology, so I am starting to figure out what I want to specialize in.

In other news, my roommate for the summer went back home to Indiana:( How sad! She was an awesome roomie and I will miss her. Luckily Molley gets here in a couple of days to keep me company before I move in with a new set of roommates. I'm sooo excited! YAY! There's so much to do on this island and so much to see, and I know we will have a splendid time together. It will be really nice to see a familiar face.

I finally started surfing! The first time I went, it was all good. The second time I went...a little more difficult. Mainly because I had a terrible board, but also because the waves were HUGE! They were way out of my league, and I was way in over my head (literally). If it wasn't for God, I probably would have drowned. Isn't that awful? Ahaha, I had too many close calls. I guess that's not the best thing to tell you guys, but don't worry about me, I've learned my lesson, sort of. I can't help but act as if I'm a pro. I do that with pretty much everything. (Especially skiing, LOL!) But it's so fun and such a good workout. If I could surf everyday, I would. And I'd be in such good shape! Oh well. That's all for now with the updates. Scroll down to see some more pics of beautiful HAWAII!!!

Ashley

Aloha

I haven't "blogged" in a while so here goes. Let's see, what's new? Okay well I'm almost officially done with Core, so that means I'll be on the floor seeing clients in a couple of weeks. I've even given out a few business cards so hopefully I can start building a clientele here. I'm also looking forward to making tips again, considering I haven't found a job out here yet. It is extremely expensive living here and well...I need more money! LOL. In other news, I was supposed to volunteer with Honolulu Habitat for Humanity but once I got to the site, they said that they had to call it because of the rain and mud. I was disappointed cause I was really looking forward to it, but that's okay... next time!

I found a place to live once I move out of my current home at the end of August. I'll be living with two other girls, one goes to my school, and it's about 7 blocks from my school as well so I won't have to rely on the bus anymore! It's a really cute duplex and you can see the ocean from the front. Waikiki has been fun and convenient, but this place is roomier and cheaper, so that's always good.

I've been going to a church that I really like. It's called Word of Life and it's really been a blessing to me. It helps a lot being connected to a church family while I'm so far away from home, so I'm really grateful for that. Speaking of home, it turns out I won't be done with school as soon as I thought. Unfortunately for Nashville, I won't be back until February. But that's not too bad of news for me! (he he he) Well that's all I got for now. It's still beautiful here, don't think that's ever gonna change. And I'm still having lots of fun so until next time...ALOHA!

Time Is Flying

I've finished two weeks of school and I've been here in Honolulu for almost a month now and that's so crazy! I love school and I'm learning a lot. I've been exploring and getting more familiar with the island which has been fun. I can't get over how beautiful it is here and how warm the people are. I'm trying to live it up as much as possible during my time in paradise. More adventures are to come and I can't wait to share them with you all! Love you family and friends!

One Week Down

I just completed my first week of school out here and it was really great! I have a small class and we all get along great. I am finally feeling settled here. I got my bus routes down, finally, and I am finding more local places with great food. There is one place by my school that has the BEST SOUP EVER! Everyday they have a different one and so far, they all have been amazing! I love living here because everyday is so beautiful, it's unreal. My girl Molley is coming to visit me in August and I CAN'T WAIT! Molley...get ready for some pure fun and beauty, lol. I have been in touch with a lot of peeps in Nashville. Thanks to everyone that's been checking up on me. I've got some great friends out here, and it's really beginning to feel like home! Till next time...

Love,
Ashley
